- When creating a resume, Always keep in mind that the person reading your resume must be hooked in and invested enough to continue reading your resume. This requires you to highlight your best skills and the match they are to the company's goals and the role you are applying to. The intent is to get the recruiter invested enough in your resume to call you in for an interview because they want to know more about you and what makes you tick and if your personality matches that of what is portrayed in your resume. Always put in you resume, what you can back up with hard facts or information.
- Melissa is rested, calm and suitably prepared to handle the interview well and with the right skill set and answers, has a higher probability of landing the job. John is tired & irritable from lack of sufficient sleep and has lower concentration at the interview. Having done his research and clean up at the last minute, he is not in best shape when attending the interview. This will definitely lead to lower concentration and thereby misunderstanding interview questions, erroneous answers and inability to perform at his best. His chances of landing the job, despite having the required skill set is largely reduced due to a poor show at the interview.
- -Insufficient sleep before the night of the interview will definitely lead to slower & duller responses to interview questions. Lethargic responses from the brain due to lack of sleep lowers the chances on landing the job. -Insufficient research on the company and the job role applied for would mean that there is a poor understanding of the job role and the company and hence the answers given will never match up to what the recruiter is looking for. - Poor time management skills increases stress, Poor time management can manifest in several ways : Turning up late for the interview, this leads to more stress ; Not planning your route and hitting several traffic jams on the way , adding to the stress even if you reach the interview in time. Leave earlier than is required to reach ahead of time ; Not sorting out your documents and our interview outfit ahead of time, will definitely mean , missed documents and shabby dressing, emotionally not a good place to start going into an interview not feeling top notch. - Not reading up about who you will be interviewing with, you need to find common threads to pick up to build a relationship or a rapport that gets the interviewer to be invested in you.
- I could have understand the industry that I was shifting into, better by meeting more people from that industry and understanding it from an insiders perspective and the pay scales that the role involves.
