Origin story
Sallyann Della Casa began designing and delivering soft skills and mentoring programs at just 13 years old. By 21, she was creating curriculum for the U.S. Child Labor Committee’s KAPOW program in Florida and New York. In 2011, she founded the Growing Leaders Foundation, which has since upskilled over 25,000 youth in workplace readiness.
In 2016, as the first Curator of Culture and People at Careem—the Middle East’s first unicorn—Sallyann realized that the same workplace challenges she saw in at-risk youth were just as present among highly educated professionals. It didn’t matter who you were; the human skills gap and desire for social capital was universal. This led her to create GLEAC, a platform rooted in the idea of proximity—bringing people closer to community and opportunity with real-world wisdom to give everyone a fair shot at opportunity.
