The isolated use of tools will not help me understand the candidate. For a holistic gage, all the things that matter in a candidate require reading of the resume, speaking with the candidate over a phone call and interview through situational and behaviroal aassesment.
1. Not making eye contact
2. Body language
3. No smile
4. being offensive or defensive when queried or at the interview
5. Inability to explain or validate with examples the content on the resume
Yes. I definitely was not expecting the question at that juncture however it made me feel that perhaps over the course of the Q&A I had made headway to move to the next round and it didn't impact my decision negatively but made me more cautious and I kept a look out for similar behavior over the next rounds too.
The warning signs are the indicators to 'red flags' and provide an insight on this not being the right culture and attitude fit to the wellbeing of the organization in the long run. It also enables the candidate to look for a more appropriate environment that are better suited to his personality traits.
