- In my erstwhile company a few reasons in another function were - too much workload , lack of clear role and responsibilities, lack of direction, lack of ongoing communication, transparency , work life balance, not much career opportunities etc..
- Most important factor is bringing everyone on the same page and focus towards company's goal and objectives followed by departmental goals and objectives. Having transparent communications, setting smart KRA's , ongoing communication, monitoring the team's stated and unstated requirements. Apprehending any likely conflict and preparing effective strategies etc.

- Communication is a vast domain to be learned and practiced. I am still a learner. It is about the 7 C's of communication, also about the Visual | Verbal | Vocal and when to use which strategy. It comes from years of practice, experience and learning from other's experience. So many ways to work on this - through communicating in the first place, through role-plays, suggesting on real time case scenarios etc.
- According to my understanding - It is a team that is connected remotely and all working towards a common goal/ vision. However, it is first a team - only then we think of it as virtual or physical which is basically an arrangement of working. By virtual again it can mean - not only working from home but could be across geographical locations.
- Yes it was in my erstwhile organization iGATE. I managed to work from home successfully for about 5 years. The top leadership believed in supporting creative / innovative ideas, suggestions and were open to adapting as per the business requirement. Also, the culture was supportive of career growth. They believed in successful outcomes and also I had their trust which was build upon across the journey of 10 years :)

- What more than sharing one's own work experience ? It is like walking the talk and not just preaching. 15 years of work experience at one organization speaks a lot about work ethics, collaboration and other effective practices. Also, each day is a new day and every day one has a different and new experience which can be addressed through knowledge, some tools and tips etc..
- 1. Would advice Melinda to use the 'Assertive communication' technique rather than avoiding the situation. It is not a one time situation hence needs to stay calm, polite but firmly voice her opinion. 2. Advice to John would be to go for a win-win situation rather than coming across as competitive and making the colleagues feel intimidated. He should work towards a collaborative approach rather than coming across as dominating.
- Effective strategies for Conflict resolution: 1. Mindfulness - try to identify the type of technique 2. Assess your role - are you in a role of authority. 3. Brainstorm the reasons 4. Look for identifying and filling the missing links / gaps 5. Addressing upfront and following up. Set the ground rules and find common grounds for conversation. Look for a mutually acceptable resolution.
- I use the 'Thomas Killman' instrument for Conflict strategy approach. Basically - look for a win-win situation. Look towards co-creating and negotiating solutions in the benefit of the organization.
