Not managing time effectively as a manager can lead to confusion within the team and lack of clear direction. A leader sets an example and if the people they are managing do not see time management performed well they may see it as not an important strategic imperative to meeting deadlines.
Time management is the ability to plan and control how your time is spent to accomplish your goals. Self discipline is ones personal ability to adhere to the plan and complete the task or goal set when it should be completed even if you do not feel like doing it. Without this discipline, all principals are useless.
My days and weeks are managed effectively. I ensure all the meetings I need to have are in my diary well ahead of any deadlines set to ensure I have the necessary clarity to move forward.
Be present in the moment so that you are focused on the task at hand. By being present, you stop your mind wondering to what is next and therefore can be present for the conversation and recommendations at hand.
I have worked to view differing perspectives so that I can develop my own opinions. I am therefore in a better place to hear and listen to people without forcing my own opinion on the situation. Therefore making collaboration and team interaction more optimal to reaching the final result.
Look at both sides of the story - both negative and positive to prove and disprove your viewpoint. In this way, you can be better placed to form an educated opinion.
Sometimes stressful situations bring out insecurities. When these insecurities come to the fore it can cloud your judgement or distract you from the task at hand.
Goal setting allows you to stay focused. If you can align your thought process to the tasks at hand then you are better capable to limit the stress by not knowing what to focus on first.
5. I have learnt how to manage my stress over the years to ensure I effectively manage all the components needed to meet deadline and deliver on what is required.
The ability to adapt to situations enables you to go from a survivor to excelling in the face of massive change. It is having the flexibility to shift your thinking and behavior to accommodate the unexpected in your environment to ensure delivery at a higher level.
The most stressful situation for me is people who do not communicate and plan properly to ensure the team is all on the same page. I therefore try ensure open lines of communication, bi-weekly meetings and other ways to mitigate these stressful situations and boost performance in my team as well as the way in which I work.
Building strategic relationships is imperative to ensure trust and loyalty. CRM can be used to document all discussions so it can better inform the relationship development.
