We're a small company and currently rely on risk management strategies being embedded into the way we work in an ad hoc manner.
We should
1. develop an overarching strategic risk management plan that is communicated to the entire company, accessible to everyone and updated regularly (annually)
2.Ensure ever project proposal has a risk management strategy.
1. Schedule time for strategic planning (and operational planning if not already done)
2. If your company is large enough designate someone to spearhead strategic planning or assign it as a role. (Typically there are roles related to operational planning)
3. Set goals and deliverables related to strategic planning similar to how it is done for operational planning.
1. Not caring or considering the ideas, thoughts and feelings of co-workers in the execution of a plan.
2. Not being open about your plans and intentions.
3. Not admitting when mistakes are made
I give myself an 8 because I open and honest about my plans, value the input and contributions of coworkers and consistently empower employees.
(I run my own company.)
I can improve by acknowledging that coworkers share different values and giving greater consideration to their values when making decision.
Convergent thinking is linear, systematic and analytical and great for narrowing down ideas into one solution.
Divergent thinking is great for idea generation and critiquing an existing design it expands outward, is flexible, open-ended and sees barriers as opportunities.
1. Install a local team(s) that is(are) familiar with the culture, expectations and language in the Asian market. This may result in different marketing, product segments, product and packaging design and delivery methods in the Asian Market.
2. Apply learning to all major markets to make sure for example this is not repeated with a different product later on in Europe.
3. Stay in front of customer feedback by developing a strategy to solicit immediate feedback from customers (or a subset) instead of waiting for it to trickle in.
4. Develop a campaign aimed at recovering trust for example admitting a mistake and sharing with consumers the way forward.
By doing a review of a particular product. We did this recently. We are about to launch a new service and we:
1. mapped out the elements of the service inclusive of curriculum development, sponsorship, teacher training, curriculum delivery and marketing.
2. We questioned how we derived at each decision and outlined our considerations and any new ones that arose.
3. Identified areas for improvement in each in terms of making them more efficient or optimal for teachers, students or sponsors.
Sharing examples of how we responded to negative customer feedback. In some cases we were slow to respond and share how this impacted our profitability. And of course share what we did well.
